Lake Gibson Village named Best Independent Living Facility and Best Assisted Living Facility by readers of The Ledger
When it comes to independent and assisted living in Polk County, Lake Gibson Village can call itself the “Best of the Best.”
Lake Gibson Village won The Ledger newspaper’s Community Choice Award for both Best Independent Living Facility and Best Assisted Living Facility during an awards dinner on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.
In June, the newspaper asked residents of Polk County to vote either online or by mail to write-in nominations for their favorite businesses and individuals in nearly 150 categories. Five semifinalists were chosen in each category, and another round of voting was held in July to determine the winner.

The Ledger publisher Brian Burns said that over 326,000 individual votes were cast over the two voting periods, while computer software was used to eliminate duplicate or automated voting.
Twenty members of the Lake Gibson Village staff were on-hand to accept both awards.
“I am deeply grateful to (Lake Gibson Village) residents for taking the time to cast their votes, and to the Lake Gibson Village staff for their hard work every day,” said Renee Tucker, Lake Gibson Village CEO.
In 2017, Lake Gibson Village won the award for Best Independent Living Facility in its first year of operation, claiming back-to-back titles this year in that category.
After accepting assisted living patients in November 2017, Lake Gibson Village was a first-time nominee in the Best Assisted Living Facility entry.
