One of the most requested services by families is respite care. Lake Gibson Village is happy to announce that we are now offering respite care to the community.
Respite is generally a short-term stay that allows family caregivers a break. Being a caregiver for a senior living at home is a demanding job; doing so may not give you the time you need to take care of personal or professional matters, or you just may need to take some time for yourself. Respite care can offer you that much-needed break while leaving your loved one in a safe, caring environment. In addition, respite care is sometimes used as an interim period when a resident is moving—from a rehab facility to back home, for example.
Another great use of a respite stay is to try out assisted living to see if it might be a great fit for your loved one. Moving to an assisted living facility like Lake Gibson Village is a big commitment and a big change for many seniors. Respite care allows seniors and their families to give us a test drive, so to speak, to see if becoming a resident would work for them. We have had many residents move in with some trepidation and fear of the unknown, but once they get comfortable, they are very happy with their move and really enjoy the lifestyle that we provide.
During someone’s respite stay in one of our private apartments, the person will receive the same assisted-living services that residents get on a daily basis. We will help with activities of daily living, bathing, dressing, medication management, etc.
In addition to this assistance, someone on a respite stay will also be able to enjoy all of the amenities and services that Lake Gibson Village provides to residents. This includes meals, a wide range of engaging activities, and transportation.
Lake Gibson Village is a top-rated assisted living facility in Lakeland, Florida, located in the historic Carpenters Home on the north side of the city. We are conveniently located off Interstate 4 and U.S. Highway 98, just minutes away from several shopping and eating destinations. After a complete renovation of the building, Lake Gibson Village accepted its first resident in the summer of 2016. In 2021, Lake Gibson Village will begin offering memory care services, and an affiliated skilled nursing and rehab facililty also began operating on our campus.
