Next month, Lake Gibson Village and Kindred at Home are hosting an informative lunch and learn program on this topic. An expert panel will discuss the importance of brain health as we age and share tips on how to achieve and maintain mental fitness.

Byron Dean, D.O., Family Practice, Specializing in the Aging Process and Gerontology.
Dr. Dean is a graduate of the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. With 14+ years of experience in Family Practice and Gerontology, he is an expert on the aging process. Dr. Dean is also a proud veteran of the armed forces.
Barbara Herrington, Owner and Lead Aging Life Care™ Manager of All About Aging
Ms. Herrington, holds an M.A in Gerontology from the School of Aging Studies at University of South Florida in Tampa and a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Florida State University. She is a member of Better Living for Seniors of Polk County, the Coalition on Aging Transitions and Technology and board member for the Senior Connection Center. Barbara is also a Certified Care Manager through the National Academy of Certified Care Managers.
Stephanie Thompson, Director of Early-Stage Programs/Senior Program Specialist with the Alzheimer’s Association – Florida Gulf Coast Chapter.
Ms. Thompson graduated with a B.A. in interdisciplinary social science with concentrations in sociology and gerontology from the University of South Florida. She also holds a Master of Arts in Adult Education from U.S.F. Stefanie is active in health-related groups, such as Better Living for Seniors of Polk County, the Coalition on Injury Prevention, and the Mild Cognitive Impairment /Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Dementias Advisory Council of Polk County.
